Dear Alan & Harbeth Fans:

Long time no see! Miss you all so much!!

I've been working for about half a year to get a Ph.D.

Now I've got a question,"Is HL COMPACT replaced by SHL5 or Compact 7es3?"

In other words,"Is SHL5 or Compact 7es3 the ramification of HL COMPACT ?"

Waiting for the answers.

thanks.

Hi Zhangyu, the SHL-5 does not replace the HL-Compact. If i am not wrong, the original Compact (Circa 1987/88 thereabouts) was Alan's so called 1st project after he had taken over Harbeth Acoustics. Then not long after that, the HL-5 was launched to supersede the HL-MK4. Then in about 1993/94, Alan came up with the HL-Compact 7 to replace the original HL-Compact. The Current HL-Compact 7 ES3 is thus the latest version of the Compact 7 whereas SHL-5 is the revised & improved version of the original HL-5.

Both the HL-Compact & HL-5 used TPX as their main driver material whereas the current C7-ES3 & SHL-5 use Radial. In the case of the C7-ES3, its actually Radial 2.

Dear Alan:

Are there any M40 to be produced or they're just replaced by M40.1?

The M40.1 replaces the M40.
