Guys,,
I currently run my CDP to my SHL5 with my Mcintosh MA7000 , however ... the sound
is somewhat sharp and not "TRANSPARENT" enough,,, has anyone tried SHL5
with the Accuphase A50V ? I am currently using Meridian G08.2 as my CDP.
Also any good advice on what type of Interconnect matches better with the SHL5?
like a silver based or more cooper based ?
Thanx for the advice guys !
Cheers,,

Hi Jacko,
I just saw your entry, with a huge delay I admit...
I'm using the same sort of set - up to say... I run the smaller MA6500 (discontinued) with the Meridian 507 (also discontinued), and feeding my SHL5s.
I never had any problems, friends always saying how smooth the reproduction is. Nothing sharp, nothing at all, with any kind of music. I don't think Accuphase will change things essentially, especially as far as Macs are considered very sweet sounding with laid back presentation and bass to spare... I suspect something else goes on with your setup... The room, and then some effect possibly from your interconnects. Check your damping (mean hard surfaces for unwanted reflections), and surely some good interconnects would help. I always vote for good quality copper, I'm using Kimber all the way. Why don't you try good XLRs? I remember the G08 and your Mac both have balanced input/output conns, don't they? Also check stands' height and isolation from floor, both playing a crucial role. You check these all, move speakers a bit more away from side walls and give them a slight toe-in, and recheck your sound. But be sure to use some different cd's, 'cause most of them are not recorded as they should, that's one big issue in audiophile society! And finally, is your system very new or did you give it a proper break in period?
Please come back with comments,

I tried the MA7000 and thought it was a very nice amp. However, it is the least laid back, least smooth and lushy sounding Mac integrated I had heard, so maybe the amp has something to do with it. That said, I'd look at the room before I made a big change like the amp.
I use solid silver cables and copper speaker cables with my SHL5s and will do the same when my 40.1s get here next month.
