Factory clearout of old Rogers BBC speakers
We'll be featuring our recent expansion into the adjacent factory in an upcoming Newsletter. One justification for the move was to give us more production space, another to consolidate the various additional premises we have been renting in the local area for storage and office space. I am charged with responsibility for clearing our general store. In it there are several pairs of Rogers BBC LS5/8 monitors, their matching active QUAD AM8/16 amplifiers, 12" 5/8 bass units and possibly one of two LS5/9 monitors and 5/8-5/9 tweeter spares. These have been traded-in by the BBC/ITV/pro broadcasters at various times for Monitor 40s, 30s and 20s. All we need is one reference pair of LS5/8s (the best being an oak pair from BBC Northern Ireland drama dept.).
We could, as we have done before, break up these cabinets, save the drive units and reduce the amount of space needed by them. I'd rather find good homes for them complete. We have been told that there is a Rogers forum and maybe someone here would pass this on to them. None of these speaker are in pristine condition; none can be considered perfect, and all the cheap tin buckles of the hand-carry strap on the QUAD amps have rusted although I fully expect the amps to work.
Our new factory is being painted now and will be racked soon, so we'd like to clear this old historical stuff in the next couple of weeks.
PLEASE NOTE: The only speakers and parts we have are LS5/8 (= Chartwell PM510 passive), some with AM8/16 active amps and passive LS5/9. No other Rogers models or spare parts - sorry. Prices negotiable as is a contribution to my time for testing any parts/speakers required.
NOTE 2: The AM8/16s are based on the QUAD 405 amp, with the active filters inside the same case. Some are 405s and some 405/2. The power amp cards and mains transformer/PSU are identical to the original QUAD parts and freely interchangeable with them: all the 'customisation' is in the active filter card bold-ons which if removed, would revert the AM8/16 to the std. 405. If you buy the AM8/16 I would provide full BBC set-up service information.
