That is one serious setup, what amps are you running.
Awesome setup jmohd! Which Ayon player are you using? I just upgraded to the Cd2s from my 1s.
Cheers
Sid
Thanks Sid, I'm using CD5s.
Kraiker, I'm using XA100.5 . At the moment CDP ic run direct to the amps.

My listening-room with the SHL5´s
CD-Player: a cheap Technics (modified by a Voodoo-Suplier here in Germany called Clockwork Audio; well no idea how else it would have sounded; but it works the way it is)
Preamp: Quad 44
Amp: Atmasphere S-30 OTL
Alle cables are non-fancy stuff supplied from my Quad-dealer.
Top stuff Thurston,
Thanks for sharing
Jim

The amp (and some CD´s).
I really love the look of that output-transformerless tube amp.
Handmade as the Harbeths are (simply a good feeling).
Feels and looks like quality and passion are in that machine.

Another perspective. In the background near the window are the Eletrostatics. Allthough the Harbeths are much better to me I will presumably not sell them. They are somethin special after all.
@1ryal: Thanks!
Hi Thurston,
You have good taste in spks cause all i see in the background are british spks. The Celestions in the background are presumably the SL-6s or the 100? Celestions were one of the spks that got me hooked onto the archtypical smooth, warm & sophisticated british sound. Enjoy your SHL-5s to the max! I bet they sound nothing less than fantastic in your setup. Btw, did you remove the labels (usually on the bottom left side) on your SHL-5s?
Well, obviously you are a speaker-expert!
To be exact the ones that are obviously visible (the ones on the black stands): these are Celestion 100.
(used in a 5.1 Setup for Home Cinema; the center-speaker standing on the low stands in the middle is a 100 as well)
But:
If you look closely into the rooms corners there are some more black boxes: these are Celestion 6!
(they are only seldom used with the Sansui 9090 Vintage Receiver seen on the right side of the rack)
And:
In the back of the room there are even more Celestions: Celestion 3 as rearspeakers.
Here is my SHL5 setup in hall. I am lucky enough this hall sound good to my ear without any need of further treatment even it is quite empty. This also tell how friendly the SHL5 is. My setup in this hall consist of:
Harbeth SHL5
LFD zero LE mkIII
Lite tube Dac 50 (modded)
Marantz CD17mkIII
Cables: MIT T2 speaker cable, noetech nei3001 interconnect, noetech digital cable, 3 power cords (from my old computer) and normal UK type extended socket.
Photo taken by my mobile phone.

Dear Harbeth lovers,
This is my Harbeth system atm.
It consist of:
Harbeth SHL5
Accuphase E-250
Primare CD 22
HRT Music Streamer II 2011
Cables: Kimber 12tc wbt terminated, interconect Kimber Select KS 1011, Kimber/Wattgate powercord.
I had AR vsi 60 int. tube amp before this and its was extremely good combo but when I heard it with Accu I run into a store next morning![]()
Cheers!
Hi Milos, congrats.. Looking at your set-up, I would sugggest that you toe in the speakers a bit. It's too close to the side cupboard with glass. When listening cover up the cupboard with some thick towel, a blanket or better with acoustic treatment (side reflection).
Happy listening,
Love all the pics...the Super 5's are beautiful.
Thanks. Yes I know about glass effect. It's just a meter of day when I'l be in new apartment with a room specially for listening.
Cheers.
My system:
Squeezebox Touch/CI audio PS (flac)
Benchmark DAC/PRE
Placette passive linestage
Parasound HCA-1500A amp
Harbeth Compact 7ES-3
Kimber 8TC/Hero cables; Belden 1694A Dig cable
Room is 18ft x 36ft (8-12ft vaulted ceiling) overall, but listening are is in the first 1/3 of the room. Speakers are 8ft apart, 20" off the back wall, with an inch of toe-in. Listening seat is about 11ft away.
...a little update
Has been discussed in another thread. I build some bass-traps and added some black curtains and some fabric on the back wall.
Thx thurston for the diy project photo here and also there. Pretty enjoying them. If next time I have the M40.1 and encounter (finger crossed) bass issue in my hall, I know what to do and who should I ask for help. Cheers..
