No. We reset the serial number when we revise the model. For example, the original HL monitor of 1977 started production at serial number 100. So did the Mk2, 3, 4 etc.
Formal serial number records started when I became involved with Harbeth in 1986 and details of every speaker produced since then (when made, who made, colour, details of the drive units, who tested the speaker, who packed, special comments etc. etc.) have been written by hand in Production Log Books, speaker by speaker, since then. We have considered bar coding but fear that due to computer malfunction we could lose our records so for now we continue with the written books.
Please don't forget to Register your Harbeth speakers on the web site.

Many thanks for your reply!
I couldn't find the page on your website for registration.

We've tried to keep the main menu as simple and clean as possible - just six buttons (Home ...... Contact).
To find the Registration page on the website ..... the rule is .... if it concerns a speaker (yes, it is about Registering a speaker) then go along the top bar to Products. Then drop down the left column and you should see the Registration page.

Have I missed something? There's no "Compact 7ES-2" on "model" drop down menu on the registration page.
No - it was an oversight on our part. C7ES-2 now added as a registerable speaker.
