what CDP are you using?

My first, after i could afford one, was a NAD 5440. It made nice music. Requiring a badly needed lobotomy at the time, I opened it, dismantled everything I could with a screwdriver and put blu-tak between any surface which met another. It didn’t survive a fedex journey down under though.

My first serious player was the Arcam 5 Plus (wow, what a wonderful CDP), then a Quad 77 and now a NaimUniti (essentially a Naim 5i). Honestly, I spend more time listening to streamed music (CDs are ripped and stored in computer) which is so much simpler and convenient! I can run through my 200 CD collection with a touch of the button!

A Marantz SA15S1 CD/SACD (2 channel). On the plus side, the advantages of Super Audio over Red Book can easily be distinguished. On the minus side, the player is not as 'peppy' as some players I've heard. Still, the Marantz makes for a nice non fatiguing player.

Arcam players seem to be most peoples starting point and I am still using my Alpha6 but as a transport, feeding the D/A in my Bryston preamp.
I was thinking of getting a Blueray player which will play just about everything including CDs and SACDs. Does anyone else use a DVD / Blueray player for audio?
I'm also considering a SONOS setup.

I use a Cambridge Audio bluray player as a transport into a Naim Supernait dac, I'm very pleased with the results. (c7es2 & 50" panasonic 1080p plasma)

Upstairs: Ah! Tjoeb, the Dutch modified (tube output stage) Marantz player
Downstairs: NAD C 542, very high bang for the buck with built in HDCD decoder

The first time I replied to this thread, I was using all Naim equipment (cd, integrated, power supply). I've gone back to using Jolida JD100 with a less expensive amp. Still sounds great.

An update:
I've had the Bel Canto DAC3 modified to use the virtual battery supply (VBS1). This improved sound quality considerably: more natural tone quality from low to high, better sound stage particularly as regards depth and greater transparency. Altogether more musical.

Since my Quad 77 CDP packed up several years back, I decided to get a Squeezebox 3 (Classic), with RCA digital out to my Accuphase E560's internal DAC (DAC-20). The SB3 is powered by a shunt regulated Paul Hynes' PSU. The music files stored in my NAS are wirelessly streamed to the SB3. All controls and selection are via the SB3 remote. The SB3 also allows me listen to internet music which sounds quite decent when fed into my Accuphase internal DAC. I am reliably informed that my Accuphase DAC-20 houses a pair of Analog Devices 1955 DAC chip. The upgraded DAC-30 uses a pair of Burr-Brown DAC 1796 which allows up to 192 sampling. I hope this helps!
